Birthday Girl wanted to paddle today so we handrailed around Derwentwater, nice and simple, until the wind picked up on our return up from Keswick to our launch spot, well we did want a good workout... Sadly we are finding much of our favourite places in the lakes have turned into a bit of a theme park these days. We always launched from one of the two marines here, paying a fee and supporting them but sadly no more self launches... its all about getting as many bums on hire craft as possible, sad times. Thankfully we found parking on the east bank and launched from there...

Flamborough Head with Jacqui
An early start this morning and a little adventure with Jacqui around Flamborough. I've never seen it so flat! We managed to get into every cove and cave, then home before it all got too busy.

Paddle Home from Work, Beverley to Dunswell
A lovely evening to paddle home from work. And unbelievably I found my water bottle that I lost a year ago 20 kms further up the river... The water in it was still clear, a good scrub and it will be as right as rain...

Keeping the Fitness Up
Back at it. Light enough for an after work evening paddle. A personal beasting up the river against flow but with a little wind assist. Beverley boatyard to Wilfholme. A not too shabby 9 kms in less that two hours.

Brigham on a Cold Day
It took lots of effort and motivation to get ready this morning but as usual, come post paddle, there was no regrets. It was cold and windy so we headed to one of our favourite haunts, nothing taxing, nothing too adventurous but just the best therapy as always.

Ice Warrior Swimmer Support
Really honoured to be a small part of the team from Kingston Kayak Club offering safety cover and support for the International Ice Swimming Association swim at Welton Waters today. These swimmers get all of our respect, some doing 1000 metres in water that was frozen in parts first thing, at best today it was 2 degrees C.. These guys do not wear wetsuits.. Ultimately really, really good catching up with dear friends at KKC.

Needing Some Air
Feeling the need to just get out and find some open space and fresh air I took myself up the river. Launching from Whilfholme I pushed up to Hempholme, a journey I have done so many, many times but I never get bored of this stretch. Needless to say it was a lot quicker getting back with both wind and flow assist. The rain came down but I really did not care.

This Is My Church
This is my church, this is where I heal my hurts... yes a little corny but stress, anxiety, dread and general sadness tends to dissapate somewhat when I'm on the water.
The light was just beautiful, just the perfect therapy.

Beverley Shipyard to Sutton Road Bridge on the SUP
This was supposed to be just another simple paddle home from work - Beverley to Dunswell but given it was a beautiful evening and I was on a promise of tide assist back north imminently I carried on heading south. Music in my ears and a brisk cadence had me down to Sutton Road in no time. With the predicted tide now starting to flow north I had a nice easy journey back home to Dunswell.
